Physical Empathy ist eine choreografische Fiktion, die physiotherapeutische Dialoge zwischen Körpern und Objekten initiiert. Mit verschiedenen Therapiepraktiken wie Massage, Mobilitätshilfe, Tanz und Gesang werden emotionale Verbindungen erforscht und verändert. Pflegearbeit wird dabei nicht als etwas verstanden, das immer mit Vorsicht einhergeht: Denn nicht lebenden Objekten Leben einzuhauchen, erfordert Technik aber auch Anstrengung, und ein wenig Magie. Physical Empathy nimmt die kraftvolle Arbeit, aber auch die Ausbeutung historischer und heutiger Pflegearbeitender in den Blick und lädt ein zu Spekulationen darüber, was Pflegearbeit war, ist und sein könnte.

Information: Am Samstag, 29.01. findet nach der Vorstellung ein Publikumsgespräch mit Tyra Wigg, Isabelle Stocker, Präsidentin der Gewerkschaftsgruppe des Unispitals Basel und weiteren Kompliz*innen statt.

Physical Empathy is a choreographic fiction that engages physiotherapeutic dialogues between bodies and objects. Through different healthcare practices such as massage, mobility assistance, dancing and singing, affective connections are being explored and altered. Here, the caregiver is breaking up with the concept of care as something inherently careful, because bringing life to non-living objects demands both skills and struggles, and a bit of magic. By paying attention to the powerful labour, but also exploitation and oppression, of historical and contemporary caregivers, Physical Empathy invites speculations on what healthcare was, is, and could be.
